A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Sahabi Danladi Mahuta, has called for the zoning of the 2023 presidency to the south.
The APC chieftain who doubles as an Islamic scholar however itemised a condition for the power shift.
According to him, zoning the presidency to the south will also attract a religious consideration.
He stated that if the south produces a Christian presidential candidate, the north will produce a Muslim running mate to the candidate.
Further, he explained that even if the south produces a Muslim presidential candidate, the north will still lean towards producing a Muslim running mate.
Mahuta mentioned that two popular southern politicians who can be considered for the number one seat in 2023, are the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
According to him, the two are the known gladiators from the southwest who are seen as serious possible contenders.
