The youngest monarch in Lagos State, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, celebrated the fifth anniversary of the death of his father, Oba Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi, on Sunday, November 23.
The event attracted some socialites and a few other top personalities to Ikate-Lekki, Lagos.
Olori Sekinat Aramide Elegushi, wife of the Oba, was on ground to ensure that guests had a good memory of the colourful event and indeed, she succeeded as those who were at the party are yet to stop talking about it.
Oba Saheed Elegushi ascended his father’s throne years back. However, then, there was a tussle between Oba Saheed Elegushi and his elder brothers, Adedeji Elegushi, popularly called Aremo, the heir apparent over who should be the next leader of the kingdom. At the end of it all, the chiefs, elders of Elegushi and Lagos State Government declared Saheed Ademola as the next Oba of Elegushi land and the Kushenla III.
Aremo subsequently left the palace, but returned two years after specifically on Sunday, January, 15 2012, following the intervention of Oba Olotto and elders of Olotto kingdom who resolved the dispute between the brothers.
Prior to the kingship tussle, Oba Elegushi, who holds first and second degrees in economics from Lagos State University (LASU), was the senior special assistant on special duties to Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), of Lagos State. He also served as a special assistant to former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, while his elder brother’s education ended at the secondary school level.
