Augustine Eguavoen, the coach of the senior national football team of Nigeria has reacted to the ordeal they suffered in the hands of the Libyan Foothball Federation.

Recall that the Super Eagles of Nigeria were held hostage at an Airport in Libya, without access to food and water for hours.

Recounting the bitter experience, the Caretaker Coach said; “Thanks to the Libyans for letting us go, but it was a horrible 18-20 hours of experience and we don’t want to go through that again.

“We were held hostage, we could not have played this match under these circumstances.

“We know how football can unite the entire world, but in this regard, for them to act like this, I cannot comprehend seriously.”

The Super Eagles are supposed to take on the Mediterranean Knights of Libya for the second leg of their African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match on Tuesday, but the team pulled out of the game and returned to Nigeria on Monday evening due to the ill-treatment by the host.
