Police Arrest Four Students Over Alleged Intoxication, Gang Rape Of  Teenager

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four Secondary school students for allegedly intoxicating and gang raping a 17-year-old girl in the state.

The suspects were arrested on Sunday, November 24 and brought into custody for the offences of criminal conspiracy and rape of a minor.

They were identified as Sukari Mathew, 16, Corlins Cambull, 16, Barnabas Simon, 17years, and Ferdinand Mathew, 17, all minors and students of Government Secondary school Sugu, in Ganye local Government area.

According to the report made to the police by the complainant one Veronica Kezitto, a female and resident of Sugu village that the suspects allegedly conspired and raped the 17 years old victim after they intoxicated her with some quantity of beer.

During the course of investigation, the suspects confessed committing the crime by having unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim one after another and that contradict extant laws.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the command SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, had ordered the suspects be taken into protective custody pending the outcome of the investigation and legal advice from the office of the Director of public prosecution (DPP).

The Police boss while expressing worry over the ugly incident assured that law must definitely take its course at the end of investigation.

The CP warned that members of the public especially parents should develop a habitat of close monitoring of their wards and give timely information to police.
