Several years after Kenny Ogungbe, founder of Kennis Music refuted speculations that he had a role to play in the split of Plantashun Boiz, his denial statement has resurfaced again.

Plantashun Boiz made up of 2face, Blackface, and Faze was one of the most successful music groups in the late 90s and early 2000.

They were known for several hits including “You and I”, “Don’t You Know”, “Say You Believe Me”, “Knock Me Off” “If Life”, “Body Vibration” and many more.

However, the group went solo with 2face first breaking out, Blackface following and Faze eventually putting the final nail on the group.

Then, many accused Ogungbe of being responsible for the split. According to them, he offered 2face, one of the most talented artists in the group a contract in Kennis Music leading to the collapse of Plantashun Boiz.

However, in several statements, Ogungbe denied being responsible for the group going solo.

In an old statement that surfaced on Facebook, Ogungbe said: “I had read it in many newspapers that I was the reason why Plantashun Boiz Split. I didn’t Split Plantashun Boiz. Their going solo didn’t even concern me.

“Because of how good the group was when they were featured in Tony Tetuila, “Omode Meta”, I decided to offer them contract at Kennis Music. But for many months that I handed over the contract documents to Blackface, being the head of the group. He didn’t respond to get back to me. After many months that he didn’t respond, 2face called me, and said he wanted to see me. He said since Blackface is not responding to their contract discussions with Kennis Music, he want to sign with the record label, because he has some songs he want to release on his own. That was how the whole thing happened.

“Besides, 2face was not the first to release single from the group, but Blackface. He was the first to release a single, because he wanted to respond to Eedris Abdulkareem, dissing him in his song,” Ogungbe said.
