Amidst criticisms of the Edo State governor, Monday Okphebolo for his inability to properly pronounce the word “state budget”, the state’s All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman, Jareth Tenebe, has spoken in his defence.
Okphebolo was filmed as he struggled to pronounce N605 billion while presenting the 2025 state budget.
While unveiling the Appropriation Bill, the governor noticeably stuttered as he tried to pronounce the N605 billion mark. Despite the hiccup, he pressed on with his presentation. While struggling to get the numbers right, the governor said;
It’s confusing me” as he laughed.
Defending the governor, the state APC chairman, Tenebe, said the way the governor spoke shows that he is an ‘’original and innocent” person.
‘’Social media has been agog with our governor budget presentation about his mistake on N650 billion and the rest of it all. It’s a normal thing. Humans make such mistake. A lot of people make such mistake. I don’t know figures. That is how to know original and innocent people.”
