The holiday season sparkled to life in Enugu State, as Governor Peter Mba and the Honorable Minister of Arts, Tourism, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hanatu Musawa, officially commissioned the much-anticipated Enugu Christmas Village.
This event marked the grand opening of the Enugu Christmas Festival, a 25-day extravaganza designed to fill December with joy, culture, and celebration. Attended by residents, visitors from neighboring states, and guests from all walks of life, the village is a hub of excitement, offering something magical for everyone.
The Christmas Village, facilitated by the renowned Omu Resort, is a dazzling showcase of creativity and fun. Visitors can enjoy a waterpark, roller skating, archery, and amusement rides, among other attractions. However, the show-stopper is undoubtedly the breathtaking display of “500,000 Christmas lights”, creating an enchanting wonderland that captures the spirit of the season.
The Enugu Christmas Festival is more than just a holiday event; it’s a celebration of the state’s rich cultural heritage and its burgeoning status as a tourist hotspot. The festival lineup includes a vibrant array of activities, such as: Afrobeat Concert, a showcase of Africa’s finest sounds; Praise Night, a spiritually uplifting evening of worship; Highlife Concert, a tribute to the timeless rhythms of the East; Cultural Parade, a celebration of Enugu’s traditions and a Grand Fireworks Show.
Adding a touch of whimsy, the festival features the highly anticipated “Santa Street Storm.” Imagine over 100 cheerful Santas cruising through Enugu on tricycles, bearing gifts for orphanages and the less privileged. This heartwarming initiative exemplifies the festival’s commitment to spreading joy and compassion.
Running from December 7th to December 31st, 2024, the Enugu Christmas Festival promises unmatched entertainment and memorable moments for families and friends. With its combination of festive cheer, cultural pride, and generosity, the event solidifies Enugu’s place as a premier destination for holiday revelry in Nigeria.
