The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Lagos State in the 2023 general election, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has stayed that he would have defeated Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the polls but for the “Peter Obi effect.”
Adediran stated this during a recent interview.
He said: “We did everything, but that wave came and swallowed the whole thing. Nobody saw that coming.”
When asked, “If not for Peter Obi’s influence in the presidential election, would you have won the governorship election,” he responded thus:
“Absolutely, I probably would have won the election at the governorship election. The 2023 election came with this Tsunami that nobody ever expected and it was there for everybody to see,” he said
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared incumbent governor Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
Sanwo-Olu polled a total of 762,134 votes, defeating Labour Party’s (LP) Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour who scored 312,329 votes, followed by Jandor with 62,449 votes.
