Ifako ijaye Local Government Chairman, Toba Oke
The popular saying “remember those you meet on your way up because you might need them on your way down” aptly describes the situation which the Chairman of Ifako Ijaye Local Government, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, has found himself in.
www.theoctopusnews.com, learnt that Apostle Oke is currently facing a big challenge in his bid to return to office as the chairman of the local government, a post he spent 10 years before attaining.
While returning to office for another term might appear a piece of cake for other chairmen it is not for Apostel Oke, a former staff of the marketing department of DAAR Communications and erstwhile manager of Sir Shina Peters, because he simply threw away the ladder which he used to climb to the top. He is currently been accused of neglecting those who held the ladder for him to climb.
The man had initially planned to contest for the House of Representatives in 2015, but when it became obvious that there was no road for him there, he decided to seek for a second term as chairman of Ifako Ijaiye even though feelers getting to us reveal that his chances are quite slim.
Presently, Apostle Oke who resides in Obawole is running helter-skelter trying to see who he can lobby. As if that is not bad enough, he has also been laying claims to development work in the community, which is that of the state government.
Although Apostle Oke is currently taking credit for the low scale maintenance work which is been done on the Obawole road, inhabitants of the neighbourhood say it is a Lagos State Government financed project.
With the Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji Fashola set to appoint executive secretary to fill in the post of the chairmen pending when local government election will be conducted in the state, Apostle Oke might not have enough time to beg for forgiveness and this might translate to waving goodbye to his chairmanship ambition.
