Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, might be peculiar with controversial issues, but he was recently singled out for praises.
This came following his clarification on the proposed Kano Islamic Family Law.
Prior to his clarification, Sanusi had come under serious attack, as he was criticised heavily for trying to contradict the provisions of the Holy Quran.
However, having explained that the law was not meant to stop Muslims from marrying up to four wives as prescribed by Islam, but to ensure that men fulfill certain conditions before they can marry more wives he has become a subject of praise.
Sanusi has been greeted with praises, as his critics now seem to understand the idea behind the law which is to ensure that a man who can’t care for one wife doesn’t go and marry four.
