“Every new friend is a new adventure, the start of more memories.”
The above quote by Patrick Lindsay, aptly describes the new found friendship between the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
Only recently, the duo met in the United Kingdom. While Ooni Ogunwusi was in the UK for the Commonwealth Day Celebration, Sanusi also had business to settle there.
Notwithstanding the fact that it was during the period when there was a communal clash between Yoruba and Hausa in Ile-Ife which led to the loss of lives, one fact remained a pact was sealed between the monarchs.
The pact has no doubt created a relationship, as evident in Sanusi’s visit to Ooni Ogunwusi at his palace in Ile-Ife.
How long this friendship will last in light of communal clashes remains to be seen.
