Aiteo Group, the company of fugitive Benedict Peters was recently named the new Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards sponsor.

The company with vast interest in energy was founded by Benedict Peter in 1999, and he sits atop Aiteo Group as Founder and Chief Executive Officer.

At the signing of the contract which took place in Lagos    on   Sunday,   October 15,    at    the    corporate    head    office    of    Aiteo Group, Peters who was once described by Ventures Africa as the 17th richest person in Africa and the 7th richest person in Nigeria was conspicuously missing.

His company was however represented by the    Group    Executive    Director    Legal,    Andrew    Onyearu;    and    the    senior   Vice   President    Commercial    &    Gas,   Victor    Okoronkwo. CAF, on its part was represented by its    President,   Ahmad    Ahmad, Vice    Presidents,    Kwesi    Nyantakyi    and    Omari    Selemani. Others present at the signing ceremony were    CAF    Emergency    Committee    members    Amaju    Pinnick    and    Souleman    Waberi.

Peters was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Friday, March 31, in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, diversion of funds and money laundering.

On Its website, the EFCC wrote “The public is hereby notified that Mr. Benedict Peters, whose photographs appear above, are wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).”

In 2016, Aiteo Group was estimated to have had a net worth of US$2.7 billion. The company also recently entered into a contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
