2018 was not the best of years musically for Mavin Records and it’s artists, as expectations were high.
Except for Tiwa Savage who kept the label’s flag flying, very little could be said of the other acts on the label.
This is something that label boss Don Jazzy is aware of. The master producer took to Twitter to answer questions about his label recently.
Criticized for the poor showing of the artists on his label, Don Jazzy explained that though they had not met the expectations of their fans, they were talking notes and suggestions from loyal fans and will be working on new ideas for the year.
In 2018, only flashes of Dr. Sid was seen, while D Prince was no where to be found on the music radar. For Doha, she was no where musically, while Korede Bello was neither here nor there. Also in 2018, the label lost one of its most promising artist with Reekado Banks parting ways and setting up his own label, Banks Music.
