All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the suspension of the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and his Imo counterpart, Rochas Okorocha.
The duo were suspended for alleged anti-party activities at the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held on Friday, March 1 in Abuja.
The committee further recommended the expulsion of both governors from the party.
The suspension comes as a result of the different situations in Ogun and Imo states with the duo supporting candidates who aren’t from the APC for the governorship election in their states.
Okorocha, who won a Senate seat as APC candidate, is backing his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, the gubernatorial candidate of Action Alliance (AC) in Imo state.
In Ogun state, Amosun who also won a senatorial seat under the platform of APC is backing a member of the House of Representatives, Abdulkadir Akinlade who is a member of the Allied Peoples Movement as governor.
The outgoing Ogun state governor was roundly criticised in February when he flooded an APC presidential rally in Abeokuta with APM supporters.
The incident almost went awry as the APM mob nearly stoned PresidentMuhammadu Buhari.
