Just like in life, Princess Honorah Adebola Aboaba’s exist from the physical realm was glorious.
A mother to many, the deceased was laid to rest on Thursday, February 28, at Ikotun Egbe, Lagos, as friends, family members and associates gathered to pay their last respect.
Princess Aboaba, nee Sokenu, a mother-in-law to Prof. Babatunde Adewunmi, Director, Centre For Entrepreneurial Studies (CENTS), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, was born on the 30th of June 1934 to the late Prince Jacob Bolaji Taiwo Simeon-Sokenu of Wasimi Ake in Abeokuta and Mama Christianah Towobola Sokenu (nee Onatolu).
She had her elementary education at Oba Ademola School, Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Though the death of her parents truncated her education, she, however, attempted the first school leaving certificate examination. This, she passed in 1981.
Mama, as she was fondly called was married to late Pa Joseph Kalajaiye Idowu of Sagamu in the late ’50s and the marriage was blessed with Johnson Adewale Idowu, the only survivor of the three sons of that marriage.
She later got married to Mr. Olatunde Olufemi Aboaba, a descendant of the Aboaba family of Isale-Igbein, Abeokuta, Ogun State and the marriage was blessed with three children, namely Rotarian Ayoola Aboaba; Dr. (Mrs.) Olajumoke Adewumi (nee Aboaba) and Deacon Dapo Aboaba.
