An insider at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has revealed why rapper Naira Marley was arrested.
According to the source, it is not in isolation of his recently released video of the song ‘Am I A Yahoo Boy’.
Speaking in confidence with www.theoctopusnews.com, the source said “The commission does not take lightly with celebrities endorsing social vices and criminal acts. Further, he revealed that an analysis of the lyrics of Naira Marley’s new video titled “Am I A Yahoo Boy” strongly promoted Yahoo Yahoo and his arrest was necessary before he negatively influences younger fans and listeners of his kind of music”
An analysis of the lyrics of “Am I A Yahoo Boy” done by www.theoctopusnews.com confirmed the claim of our source.
In the lyrics, the rapper could be heard saying words like “No one can arrest him. He also denied knowing the Special Anti-Robbery Squad known as SAR, adding that he only knows the producer Sars On The Beat, asking if he was a yahoo Boy’.”
He goes on to identify with Nigerians greats like Afrobeat legend Fela and politician Moshood Abiola, adding that he was about to be given the same treatment they received.
In the video, Naira Marley vindicated himself from claims that he is a Yahoo Boy with the police officers who picked him up releasing him after a thorough check of him laptop.
The part of the song which sort of endorsed Yahoo Yahoo might just be why he was picked up.
Naira Marley has been trending for weeks over a controversial post on Instagram endorsing fraud. In the post, he described Yahoo Yahoo as the consequences for years of slavery.
Celebrities such as Davido, Ruggedman, Simi, Vector have at one time or the order waded into the controversy caused by the post
