How Ivorian Music Sensation DJ Arafat Died

Popular Ivorian musician, DJ Arafat, is dead.

Aged 33, he died in a fatal motor bike accident on Sunday, August 11, in Ivory Coast.

DJ Arafat and a group of friends rode their bikes in the city capital. Arafat who is known for his love for speed got into a crash with an oncoming car which was driven by a journalist from Radio Côte d’Ivoire. He was later rushed to the hospital for treatment but died.

Considered the most popular youthful African artists in Francophone countries around the world, DJ Arafat was one of the first in his country Ivory Coast to obtain 1 million YouTube views in less than a day on his song ‘Moto Moto’.

Real name Ange Didier Huon, he was born on January 26, 1986 and was also known as Arafat Muana.

An ex-disc jockey in “Shangaï” on Princess Street Rue Princesse, located in Yopougon, Ivory Coast, he made music of the Coupé-Décalé genre. DJ Arafat was also popular for his songs including “Ventripotent”

His collaboration with Nigerian artiste J Martins titled “Touching Body” was also a hit.
Nigerian musicians including Davido and J Martins have reacted to his death with J Martins calling him a brother and a friend.
