You Can’t Keep Wild Animals At Home- Moji Ibaze, GM Omu Resort

The management of Omu Resort Lekki, Lagos has advised Nigerians to desist from habouring wild animals as pets in their homes.

Speaking during an interview, Moji Ibaze, General Manager of Omu Resort, stated that wild animals have to be kept in the wild, hence the name wildlife associated with them.

Ibaze made the comment while reacting to a two-year-old lion that was recently removed from a private residence in Victoria Island, Lagos. 

Advising residents from keeping wild animals that can endanger the lives of others as a pet, Ibaze said: “You can’t keep wild animals as pets; wild animals belong in the wild or captivity, not among residents. There is a reason why they are called wild animals.”

Thanking everyone involved in the operation, Ibaze said asides from providing lasting fun memories at its amusement park, Omu Resort, a member of the Nigerian Association of Zoological and Wildlife Parks will continue to contribute its quota to making Lagos State more habitable.

Recall that the operation to evacuate the lion and relocate it to Omu Resort’s zoo was a collaborative effort led by a team of wildlife officers from Omu Resort, operatives of the Lagos State Task Force, Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, and medical personnel from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan.
