The management of Arsenal FC has stated why it summarily sacked Head Coach, Unai Emery.
Emery was sacked 18 months after his appointment at the Emirates.
A Statement on the club’s website stated that the Spaniard was relieved of his duties with immediate effect because results and performances were not meeting the required levels.
Assistant Coach, Freddie Ljungberg has temporarily assumed duties as interim head coach for Sunday’s match against Norwich.
Having had a run of mixed results, the 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday, November 28 was the final straw for the board.
A statement from Josh Kroenke, son of majority owner Stan, said: ‘Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand.
‘We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.’
The search for Emery’s successor begins in earnest. Max Allegri, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Mikel Arteta have been speculated as favourite to be the next permanent manager of the London club.
