Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, has told his ministers to stop disrespecting members of the National Assembly.
Buhari stated this in a statement on Thursday, July 16, shortly after he emerged from a meeting with Senate President, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan and the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila at the state house, Aso Villa.
In a statement issued through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, the president told the ministers and heads of agencies to at all times conduct themselves in ways that will not undermine the National Assembly as an institution or its members
Buhari who pointed out that he has the utmost respect for the National Assembly noted that the executive and legislative arms of government are essential partners in the fulfillment of their mutually aligned goal of improving the lives of the Nigerian people.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly has expressed reservations over recent conducts of some government officials in the executive arm.
