Nigerians have been urged to learn from the challenges, gains as well as losses of year 2020.
This advice was given by a former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan.
Jonathan made the statement on Friday, January 1, in his New Year message to Nigerians via Twitter.
He said 2020 was a challenging year for many homes and families due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as he wished Nigerians a Happy New Year.
Further, he said in addition to the pandemic, Nigeria also witnesses the EndSARS protests and disruptions in the culture, economy, livelihoods, and life of citizens,hat adding that despite the setbacks, all Nigerians should learn from the past challenges and commit to new norms, and new traditions.
He said: “The recent happenings in our world, specifically in our country Nigeria, should teach us new lessons. Lessons on faith, solidarity, justice, hope and peace.”
Jonathan avised citizens to priorities habits that entrench accountability, justice, and peace in the Nigerian systems, commending all Nigerians for the courage they displayed amidst daunting challenges.
He also commiserated with families who lost loved ones to COVID- 19 and other illnesses and circumstances in the year 2020.
