2023: Prominent Northern Leaders Reveal Position On Tinubu, Fayemi Succeeding Buhari

Northern leaders in Nigeria have expressed their opinion on the possibility of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Kayode Fayemi succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Reacting to the possibility, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) said it has no problem with power returning to the southern region.
ACF’s National Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Yawe, made the position of the forum known, saying north is ready to support southerners succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
However, Yawe said that it will not interfere in a matter that has to do with political parties or support a particular zone or candidate for the presidency in 2023.
The forum described as wrong the impression that northerners will never back a candidate from the southern part of the country.
He further emphasised that “discriminating or identifying with candidates” will cause disunity in the forum, saying the selection of candidates is a matter of political parties.
“The ACF has no objection to a southerner becoming the president of Nigeria. In 1999, it was the northerners that promoted and voted for Olusegun Obasanjo as president.
“What the ACF will not do is to dabble into a matter that has been reserved for political parties to handle by the 1999 Constitution.
“We cannot, in the circumstances, support a particular zone or a particular candidate for presidency or any other office. And as we have said before, the ACF welcomes northerners of all political persuasion and identity.”
