A Lagos-based man identified as David Idibie has beaten his wife to death.
Idibie beat his wife identified as Juliana to death over what was described as a domestic issue.
A statement by the Lagos State Police Command signed by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Wednesday, February 17, said that the incident happened on the night of Tuesday, February 16.
The deceased reportedly engaged the suspect in a hot argument on certain matrimonial issues and in the process, she slumped and sustained a severe head injury.
Rather than making attempts to rescue her by taking her to the hospital, the angry husband allegedly refused to take any action while the wife lied in her pool of blood until she gave up the ghost.
The police have since arrested the suspect and evacuated the corpse to the mortuary.
Speaking on the incident, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, condemned the act and vowed to work with other relevant government agencies and other stakeholders to tackle domestic violence in the state.
Odumosu has also ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation.
