President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians not to allow a few mischief mongers to divide the country, adding that the nation is better and stronger as one nation under God.
He stated this while reiterating his position that his government will continue to ensure that the weak, the poor, and the underprivileged are not abandoned.
President Buhari stated this in the president’s 2021 Easter message to Nigerians released on Thursday, April 1, by his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina.
The president who rejoiced with Christians said this year’s celebration is coming at a time when church worshippers can now congregate, unlike last year when people could not attend traditional services as they would have wished.
He said: “The restrictions meant that our brethren could not attend traditional church services as they would have wished. I salute their resilience and understanding.
“Today, we are able to congregate and worship together, cautiously.”
He also used the opportunity to appreciate the sacrifices of doctors, nurses, and other frontline health workers, for their efforts at reducing the spread of the virus and saving lives.
Buhari also assured citizens that the country’s security challenges would soon become things of the past. He commended law enforcement and military personnel who, he said, continued to confront evil-minded individuals through the darkest of nights to keep everyone safe.
