Chukie Edozie, aka Lynxxx, might have been able to promote his musical career, but obviously he has not been able to replicate that in his life as a brand ambassador.
The artiste, who recently became an ambassador of leading telecommunication giant Glo and Pepsi might spend some time in detention if he is not lucky, as he is currently facing litigation at Igbosere Magistrates’ court for allegedly beating up a UK-based Nigerian businessman, Richard Bennet. Presently, Bennet is asking for N10m damages for assault and battery.
However, that might not be the artiste major problems as insiders in the corporate world are currently saying he might lose his ambassadorial contracts as soon as they expire.
The source told www.theoctopusnews.com that Glo has a standing rule never to renew contracts of controversial and troublesome ambassadors, as it has a negative effect on their brand image, a case of Pasuma and his seeming never ending crisis in the fuji music industry is a clear example.
Lynxxx known for his hit song, ‘Fine Lady’ reportedly caused body injuries to Bennet in a fracas at a Lagos night club, Ntycee Lounge and Restaurant. The whole sad drama started for Lynxxx when Bennet and his nephews who had gone to Ntycee to relax and was caused body injuries by Lynxxx and his crew for allegedly spilling his drink spilt on a lady who was Lynxxx manager’s sister. According to Bennet, “Lynxxx on learning what had happened, grabbed me by the lapel, and later broke bottles and threatened to kill me if I did not apologise to the lady.” Bennet alleged that Edozie and his men waited at the gate, regrouped and forced themselves into the club where they “brutally assaulted me with several blows to my head and body.”
Since the case which is sitting in front of Mrs. A.F Botoku started in court, Lynxxx has not been spotted in court and according to the counsel for the claimant, Mrs. Tina Wils-Ubong, of the Festus Keyamo Chambers, Edozie who has been served papers inviting him to answer to the offence has refused to accept or acknowledge them.
As it stands now, if Bennet’s lawyer Wils-Ubong succeed in filing an ex parte order and Lynxxx is arrested and brought to court it would automatically become a contempt of court and the musician could be detained.
Although the case has been adjourned till July 2, it seems that by the time the whole drama unfolds Lynxxx might just have lost his ambassadorial contracts, as no organization wants to identify with warring ambassadors.
