Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has alleged that there was over-voting at the PDP Zonal Congress held in Osun State.

The PDP chieftain who made the disclosure in a series of tweets on Monday night, April 12, said his camp chose to overlook the incident because of the interest of the party.

Recall that former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Taofeek Arapaja, the candidate backed by Governor Seyi Makinde’s camp won the southwest chairmanship seat of the PDP.

Arapaja was declared winner of the hotly contested poll by the chairman of the congress, Benson Abounu, on the evening of Monday, April 12, Arapaja pulled 343 votes to defeat Dr. Eddy Olafeso backed by the camp of Fayose who got a total of 330 votes.

Fayose went on to note that he will accept the outcome of the election, adding that the votes from the candidates simply show strength on the two sides.

He added that this should be explored by the party, going forward. In a post shared on his Twitter page, Fayose wrote: “Whatever may be our reservations on the issue of over-voting, we have chosen to look at the larger picture, which is the PDP. We must therefore use our energy and resources to rebuild the party. Arapaja’s 343 and Olafeso’s 330 votes, has simply shown strength on the two sides, this should be explored by the party, going forward.”
