The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Lagos East senatorial bye-election, Tokunbo Abiru has won the election.
Abiru won the Saturday, December 5 election with a landslide victory.
Announcing the results, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Sunday, December 6, that Abiru defeated Babatunde Gbadamosi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in all the five local governments
Abiru’s biggest opponent in the election was Babatunde Gbadamosi, who contested the election on the bill of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Abiru who flew the flag of the ACP polled 89,204 votes while his PDP rival secured only 11,257 votes, leaving a very massive margin of 77,947 votes.

Shomolu APC: 17,728 PDP: 2,067
Epe APC: 22,213 PDP: 1,826
Ibeju Lekki APC: 16,336 PDP: 937
Ikorodu APC: 19,204 PDP: 3,766
Kosofe APC: 13,723 PDP: 2,661
The bye-election was conducted to fill the Lagos East senatorial district in the Senate. The seat was left vacant due to the death of Senator Adebayo Osinowo on Monday, June 15.
