Chairman Skye Bank, Tunde Ayeni
As one of the biggest investors in the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan re-election bid which failed woefully, it is only natural to conclude that Tunde Ayeni lost money during the election.
Ayeni, is however undaunted by his losses, as he has bigger investments.
www.theoctopusnews.com was reliably informed that one of such investments is his 50 percent ownership of Heritage Bank Limited.
Our source revealed that the ownership of Heritage Bank Limited is divided between two people namely, The Saraki Family and Mr. Ayeni.
According to our source, 50 percent of the money which was used to obtain the SGBN license which later became Heritage Bank Limited from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); came from Mr. Ayeni, while the other came from the Saraki Family.
Mr. Ayeni, www.theoctopusnews.com was informed came on board under the influence of Mary Akpobome who later emerged as the Executive Director of Heritage Bank Limited.
To protect their investment, the parties appointed key members of the board at inception and Akpobome served as the go between and the professional face of the organisation. This also explains why Akpobome’s appointment as acting Managing Director and subsequently Managing Director Enterprise Bank Limited was simple and swift.
While the Ayeni camp appointed the Board Chairman, a former Managing Director of Skye Bank and strong loyalist of Skye Bank Chairman, Niyi Adeseun, an Executive Director Manila Banking at Heritage Bank Limited, the Saraki camp appointed Robert Nbonu and two others to keep watch for it. Each party also appointed Group Heads to serve as foot soldiers in the top echelon of the bank.
The post of Group Head, Corporate Affairs was given on a platter to a green horn in Fela Ibidapo, a relative of the Saraki, a story for another day.
With Heritage Bank Limited having acquired Enterprise Bank Plc, there is no doubt that Ayeni will be making a windfall on his investment soon.
When www.theoctopusnews.com reached out to Mr. Ademola Adedoyin, Spokesperson for Mr. Ayeni to get a reaction on Ayeni’s alleged investment in Heritage Bank he reacted thus “I don’t think there is anywhere in the constitution of Nigeria where it is said that you cant own shares in two different banks. I don’t know the ownership structure of Heritage Bank Limited, but I am sure that if you go to Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), they will tell you.”
Furthermore, he sent a text message saying “Please check Heritage Bank annual report or Central Bank you will get the ownership structure of the bank from these sources. Thank you.”, he concluded.
