The saying that “a bird in hand is worth two in the bush” is a popular one.
Perhaps only a cave man would say that he has not heard of it.
But there is a man not from the caves or the Stone Age who is not aware of the saying or better put who doesn’t understand its meaning. He is Adebayo Adelabu, the former Deputy Governor in charge of the operation at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Embolden by the spirit that drives many failed politicians who end up cooking the goose which lays the golden egg, Adelabu resigned his appointment in CBN, opting to pursue a vague political dream.
Hinging his dreams on the pedigree of his grandfather a former Oyo State Governor, Adegoke Adelabu popular as Penkelesmi, the bespectacled dark-complexioned man hoped to become the next governor of Oyo state.
With millions spent in the grassroots campaign, Adelabu who had thought that he would enjoy a easy ride in the road to emerging the anointed candidate of the incumbent governor Abiola Ajimobi received a rude shock when he was dropped from the list of contenders.
