The woman, Alaba Lawson, needs no introduction in Ogun State and perhaps the whole of the South Western parts of Nigeria.
Aside being an established businesswoman, her investments, particularly her Lawson Group of Schools, are considered a landmark in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
With these successes, also come some downers for the socialite, as the details of how she was kicked out of office as the Iyalode of Egba land on January 15, 2008, left a sour taste in her mouth until recently.
The woman, who on Friday, January 11, 2008 was removed by Oba Oyebade Lipede after a meeting with the Egba Chieftaincy Committee, had reasons to smile again at Ake Palace recently.
Lawson grinned from ear to ear during the recent celebration of the 70th birthday of the Alake of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo. What made her so happy, we learnt, was far from the birthday party.
We learnt that her source of joy was her reinstatement by the Oba as the Iyalode of Egba land after almost five years of being unceremoniously and disgracefully removed. Alaba Lawson is currently enjoying the many opportunities that come with the title.
