The face-off between the federal government and southwest governors over Operation Amotekun has been resolved.
Operation Amotekun is a local crime enforcement syndicate recently unveiled by southwest governors to protect the region.
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on his twitter handle on Thursday revealed that an accord has been reached.
Akande wrote: “News Flash: FG, Southwest Governors agree on Amotekun.”
The imbroglio about Operation Amotekun has been on for a while with the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), insisting that the security arrangement is not supported by extant laws, while the chairman of the Southwest governors forum, Rotimi Akeredolu has vowed that operation Amotekun would be pursued.
