Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, appears to be making plans to enforce the one week ultimatum given to Fulani herdsmen to vacate all government reserves in the state.
The governor recently ordered massive recruitment into its chapter of Western Nigeria Security Network popular as Amotekun.
The recruits will enable the state tackle security challenges at all levels.
The directive for the recruitment was given by the governor following the increased rate of crime in the state reportedly being perpetrated by herdsmen.
Commander of the corps in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed this.
He said: “The governor has ordered massive recruitment to the corps. The recruitment is free. You can download the form on our website.”
The news outlet also reports that the latest development was confirmed by Donald Ojogo, Commissioner for Information in the state.
Recall that the presidency had stated that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu cannot unilaterally oust herders from the state.
