The road construction will enhance connectivity, linking the Owerri expressway through Nkwo Oraifite to Nkwo Nnewi, and is set to alleviate transportation challenges in the region.
Soludo has also flagged off the construction of the 5.8-kilometer Orafite Civic Centre to Onitsha express road, which had been plagued by severe erosion with 10 metres and 22 metres of widths and depths respectively.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Christian Aburime, Soludo’s quick intervention and commitment to the project have started yielding remedial measures.
While emphasizing the strategic importance of these roads, Governor Soludo said they would provide long-term solutions to the flooding and erosion crises that have affected the communities for years.
He urged the contractor overseeing the projects to ensure quality work and timely completion, noting that his administration has already awarded contracts for 750 kilometers of road construction, with over 420 kilometers completed and a monthly progress rate of 12 kilometers.
Among other things, the Governor expressed optimism that the people will keep supporting his administration to deliver more values.
Consequently, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, the Commissioner for Works, stressed the severe impact of erosion on residents, indicating that many community members had been displaced before the Governor’s decisive action.
The projects by Governor Soludo have also received commendation from community leaders. A prominent community leader, Sir Emeka Offor, applauded Soludo’s efforts and unwavering commitment to infrastructural development in Orafite, and Anambra in general, expressing unwavering support as a friend and ally, and encouraging local citizens to rally behind the Governor’s initiatives.
