The Nigerian Army has reacted to reports of the death of the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau.
Recall that there were reports yesterday that Shekau had committed suicide, blowing up himself with an explosive as fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) tried to capture him.
The report also stated that Shekau was killed in his Sambisa Forest hideout after hundreds of ISWAP fighters invaded Sambisa with heavy gun trucks.
Reacting to the reported death of Shekau, the Nigerian military said that it is yet to receive information on the alleged death of Shekau.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Brig.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko who reacted to the report said:
“Sorry, I don’t have information on that.”
