News ASUU Strike: We Will Not Sign Non-Achievable Agreement-FG Published 2 years ago on October 7, 2022 By The Octopus News Admin President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that the Federal Government would not sign any agreement it could not fulfill. President Buhari stated this on Friday, October 7. His comment comes barely hours after the Appeal Court ordered the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call of it’s strike before appealing a judgement by the National Industrial Court (NIC). Speaking at the presentation of the 2023 appropriation budget to a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja, Buhari said: “We will not sign any agreement we cannot implement.” He said although the 2023 budget proposal made adequate provision for the education sector, the FG alone could not shoulder the burden of education financing. Buhari, therefore, said other means of financing education must be explored.
