News At last, Police Arraigns Senator Elisha Abbo Published 6 years ago on July 8, 2019 By The Octopus News Admin The Police has arraigned Senator Elisha Abbo representing Adamawa North in the Senate. The lawmaker was arraigned before the Zuba Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for assault. Recall Senator Abbo was captured in a video in which he physically assaulted a nursing mother at an Abuja adult toy shop. The lawmaker is expected to make his first court appearance Monday on one count of assault. Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Bala Ciroma, confirmed to The Punch that Mr. Abbo had been taken to the court for arraignment. Though the lawmaker apologized to his victim in a press conference, his apology was heavily criticized by women who felt it reeked of pride. It is believed that the video of the incident and his statement owning up to the incident would be used as evidence against him. A women’s group, National Council for Women Society (NCWS), FCT Chapter, had on Sunday, July 7 rejected his apology. The group advocated for stiffer punishment for Abbo to serve as a deterrent to others who assault women in workplace, shops or markets.
