Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
Abubakar received the vaccine in Dubai, United Arab Emirate on Wednesday, January 6.
Popular Nigerian journalist, Dele Momodu, shared pictures showing the former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as he received the vaccine.
Abubakar’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, has confirmed the development, adding the PDP chieftain took the vaccine as part of a mass vaccination programme.
The politician is the first Nigerian to publicly take the COVID-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, among others have been administering the COVID-19 vaccine to their citizens.
Nigeria is expected to receive its first batch of the consignment, 20 million doses of the newly approved COVID-19 vaccine by the end of January 2021.
This is according to the Executive Secretary of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, who revealed the information broke the news at the presidential task force on COVID-19 media briefing in Abuja on Thursday, December 10.
