The newly appointed Service Chiefs of President Muhammadu Buhari have been unveiled.
Recall that Presidential Spokesperson, Femi Adesina announced the disclosure in a statement earlier today.
Below are the new Sevice Chiefs and their portfolios.
Major-General Leo Irabor:
Major-General Leo Irabor is the new Chief of Defence Staff. He takes over from General Abayomi Olonisakin
Irabor hails from Agbor, Delta State, and is considered one of the best men present in the Army.
At a point in his career, he headed the Operation Lafiya Dole Theatre Command, a counter-insurgency operation in the northeast.
Subsequently, he was redeployed from the command, and his redeployment saw Boko Haram insurgency increasing in Borno State.
Major-General I Attahiru:
Major-General I Attahiru is the new Chief of Army Staff. He takes over the office Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai. Prior to his appointment, he was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Nigerian Army.
He was also appointed as the theatre commander of the Lafiya Dole operation in May 2017.
However, his deployment was short-lived, as he was later redeployed. There were speculations that his removal had to do with a rise in Boko Haram activities.
Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo:
Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo becomes the new Chief of Naval Staff. Gambo takes over from the former chief of naval staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas.
He is from Nasarawa Local government area of Kano State. Rear Admiral Gambo is an experienced Naval Commander.
Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao:
The new Chief of Air Staff Air is Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao. He replaces Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. He is from Osun State.
