Security operatives in the Lagos State House of Assembly reportedly locked lawmakers inside their offices on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Sources attributed the lockdown to an alleged bomb scare within the premises.

The unexpected lockdown reportedly occurred just hours before the scheduled plenary session at 12 noon, raising further concerns about the stability of the legislative body.

The situation has led to heightened tension, as security operatives were seen questioning visitors and staff.

Staff of the assembly have also been spotted discussing the development in confusion and hush hush tones, with many asking the real motive behind the security operatives.

Reports indicate that the Assembly complex, including the chamber and the speaker’s office, has been barricaded by police officers.

However, insiders suggest that the unfolding events may be linked to efforts to pressure the newly appointed speaker into resigning.

This development comes amid the ongoing crisis in the Assembly.

It would be recalled that the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa was recently impeached with a new Speaker, Mojisola Meranda named.
