Bombshell: I Can’t Bring Myself To Your Level, Amaechi Tells Wike

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has slammed the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking on Thursday, March 11, Amaechi gave Wike an earful, stating that he could not bring himself to the level of the first citizen of Rivers State.
Amaechi spoke while reacting to an earlier comment by the Rivers Governor, adding that it is not in his character to join issue with the governor, especially since, according to him, Wike was one of his staff while he was in office.
Amaechi said: “He was my staff, I can’t bring myself low. I was a governor, I was also a speaker, I’m a minister. I was the two-term chairman of the governors’ forum. The same when I was a speaker. Why should I be discussing him?”
He also alleged that Wike at a time sold the state’s asset and kept back part of the proceeds for himself after lying about the amount of money he got from the sale.
His words: “You sold our properties, everything. And people are talking in this state because of the government that says they are fighting corruption and protecting people. You sold our property for $308m and kept for us $208,000.”
The minister however made it clear that he has since moved on from being at odds with the governor and getting angry over his remarks.
Recall that Amaechi had in 2020 berated Wike following the governor’s statement that Nigeria would be set on fire should the president fail to entertain the demand of the south-south people for restructuring.
