Embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen, has resigned his appointment.
His resignation takes effect immediately.
Onnoghen turned in his resignation letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening, TheCable reports.
His resignation comes after an emmergency meeting by the National Judicial Council (NJC) , on Thursday, aftera which Onnoghen’s compulsory retirement was recommended to the President.
The CJN’s resignation takes immediate effect as stipulated in section 306 of 1999 constitution.
