Good things eventually come to those who wait is a popular postulation.
It is also a saying which has been proven in the lives of many people including the late American president Abraham Lincoln and Nigeria’s sitting president, Muhammadu Buhari.
However, one man who is currently a reflection of this position is the newly elected governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
Soludo’s journey to becoming the first citizen of his state did not begin yesterday, as many would remember his time in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) when he emerged as the party’s consensus candidate, but eventually lost the election to Peter Obi in an election which was largely considered free and fair.
However, determined to serve his people and backed by his experience and solid performance as Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Soludo remained steadfast with his ambition even resigning from the PDP in 2013, to join the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), however, his ambition of contesting the state gubernatorial election hit the rock when he was disqualified by the APGA Screening Committee.
Undeterred by these challenges, Soludo returned In February 2021 and officially declared his intention to run for the position of Governor of Anambra State under the banner of APGA.
His steadfastness would soon yield dividends as an election which held on Saturday, November 6, in the state saw the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announcing the former CBN governor as the governor-elect of the state, amidst congratulatory messages from other candidates.
