Chidinma Sound Sultan
Friday, January 31, will linger in the minds of a lot of inhabitants of Ibadan, as Chidinma, the “Kedike” exponent and Sound Sultan, the leader of the “Naija Ninja” crew, performed at the “MTN Nite”, a show held to entertain polo players, enthusiasts and guests that came for the MTN Ibadan International Polo Tournament.
Chidinma came on stage to perform her popular “Kedike” song that is enjoying massive airplay on radio and television. The MTN Project Fame winner and ambassador threw the audience into a frenzy when she breezed into the excited crowd as she sang; the audience which originally came to watch polo, ended up dancing to the songs of their music idol.
Just when everyone at the Eleyele, Ibadan Polo Club was settling down after dancing to the tunes of Chidinma, thinking it was all over, Sound Sultan stormed the stage triggering high-pitched screams from excited fans that could not resist the urge caused by the presence of one of Nigeria’s finest talents in the music industry.
With songs like “Orobo” and “Natural Something” he sent the audience made up of Nigeria’s crème de la crème and friends of the club into a frenzy of excitement. The talented artiste performed alongside some of his up and coming Naija Ninja crew members.
In line with its profile as “The Enabler”, MTN through the Variety Night also provided a platform for some aspiring Ibadan-based music talents to showcase their creativity, as one after the other they mounted the stage and entertained the crowd.
The Ibadan polo tourney finally came to an end on Sunday, February 2, paving the way for the MTN Lagos International Polo Tournament taking place this February.
