In his days as the Director–General of Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Chief Olusegun Irunsewe, wore the garbs of a jolly fellow and those who know him attest to his jollity.
Then, “Mr. Tourism” as the political appointee in President Goodluck Jonathan’s government was fondly called enjoyed himself, made merry and when necessary painted the town red, after all it was all about “the seven wonders” and tourism.
However, following all the noise that followed his removal from office and the appointment of Stella Mbanefo, as the new Director–General of Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), the man has simple embraced oblivion and irrelevance, as neither is he a regular face at both society or entertainment events, where he used to get VIP treatment.
Sadly, all that are now in the past, as Irunsewe who was allegedly sacked due to political reasons owing to a face-off with Minister for Culture,Tourism and National Orientation, in the person of Chief Edem Duke has faded away into total oblivion, as these close to him say he is now reclining and enjoying what he made in his days as the tourism boss.
Irunsewe was last spotted in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the burial ceremony of Maria Abati, the late mother of Reuben Abati.
