A curfew has been imposed on Offa and Erinle towns in Kwara State between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 a.m.
The curfew imposed by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will remain until further notice.
Governor AbdulRazaq’s action follows renewed hostilities between some groups of persons from the two communities on Thursday.
A statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor on Thursday, March 4, said that the curfew takes effect immediately from 6 p.m.
Further, Ajakaye noted that security agencies have been deployed to enforce the curfew and maintain the peace.
While urging residents of both communities and travellers to comply with this directive, the governor’s spokesman said all residents are to stay indoors until the curfew is reviewed. He appealed to leaders on both sides to restrain and caution their people against provocative action.
