Court Finds R. Kelly Guilty Of Sex Trafficking; Racketeering

Disgraced American singer, R. Kelly real name Robert Sylvester Kelly has been found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking.

Jurours found the RnB singer who was facing nine counts charge in the Eastern District of New York guilty.

Charges brought against R. Kelly included 14 underlying acts that included sexual exploitation of a child, kidnapping, bribery, and sex trafficking.

Additional eight counts of violations of the Mann Act, a sex trafficking law was also brought against the musician.

The jury, made up of seven men and five women, found the singer guilty after commencing final deliberations on Friday, September 24.

Prosecutors accused R Kelly of using his fame and fortune to lure in victims with promises to help their musical careers. Several of his victims testified that they were underage when he sexually abused them.

R Kelly whose trial lasted six weeks could face decades in prison.

During the trial, victims gave TV interviews about the abuse they suffered from the singer. 11 accusers, nine women, and two men took the stand to describe sexual humiliation and violence.

The verdict comes 13 years after R Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges after a trial in the state of Illinois.
