An Ondo State court has remanded a dismissed soldier, Lance Corporal Sunday Awolola.
Awolola is facing charges for sexually molesting a 300-level female student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo state.
The soldier, after his dismissal, was handed over to the police for prosecution.
Television Continental reports that the chief magistrate of the court, Mayowa Olanipekun, said the case should be sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The act is contrary to section 357 and punishable under section 358 of the criminal code cap 37 vol laws of the state. It was also reported how Awolola was dismissed by the Nigerian Army before he was arraigned.
Awolola, was dismissed after an in-house military trial by the Army authorities at the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment in Akure, Ondo state.
The state police public relations officer, Femi Joseph, on Sunday, August 12, confirmed to the press that the soldier had been dismissed and was in the custody of the law enforcement agency.
