Igo Aguma, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has been sacked.
Aguma was sacked by the Court of Appeal.
Reacting to the sack, the Isaac Ogbobula-led faction of the Rivers State APC described the judgment of the court as commendable.
Ogbobula said the Tuesday, December 29, judgment has brought sanity to the party. The party chieftain said: “We hail Justices of the Court of Appeal for the erudite judgment delivered on Tuesday, particularly for restoring sanity and sending a clear message to lower courts to desist from unnecessarily meddling in the internal affairs of political parties.”
Further, Ogbobula stated that the court’s ruling has provided the opportunity for the party to move forward. He called for dedicated APC members to salvage the party from what he called mercantile politicians.
The party chieftain said: “We must start to interrogate the policies, programmes, and activities of state, and invariably the application of state resources. The people must consciously resist a situation where one man runs the show.”
