Uduak Akpan, the man responsible for killing a female jobseeker identified as Iniubong Umoren in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has been sentenced to death by hanging by a state high court.
He was sentenced to death by a State High Court on Thursday, August 4.
after his conviction that no one is doing anything about the “many assassinations” in Nigeria.
Recall that Umoren was killed last year after she was lured by Akpan to a location with a fake job interview.
The judge, Bassey Nkanang, said Akpan will be put to death by hanging. He also found Akpan guilty of rape and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
After his conviction by the court, the judge asked Akpan if he would like to say something to the court, and Akpan responded: “My Lord, I am not guilty.”
However, the judge told him that the court had passed that stage. He told him he should say “something” related to the case.
Akpan replied: “My Lord, in our country, there’re many assassinations, but nobody is doing something about it.”
