Kano State appears to be the second epicenter of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
With rising figures of infection daily, the head of the presidential task force on Coronavirus in the state, Nasiru Gwarzo has disclosed that the rate of community transmission is ‘now 80 percent’.
Speaking during an interview with BBC Hausa, Gwarzo said about 80 percent of the samples received from communities in the state turned out positive for Coronavirus.
Gwarzo revealed that there is increased testing capacity in Kano state, added that the state needs urgent intervention as the disease is spreading to various areas.
Comparing the situation of things from before and now, Gwarzo said that in the past when about 100 samples are delivered, there are five to ten that are positive for coronavirus.
He, however, said that the situation has changed drastically, adding that now when 100 samples are returned, about 80 are coronavirus cases.
Kano State is the second most hit state as far as the coronavirus infection is concerned. On May 1, the state confirmed 311 cases of Coronavirus.
